Spiritual Phrases to Start Your Meditation

These are a few suggestions of phrases to meditate on:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.  Mark 12:30

Love your neighbor as yourself   Mark 12:31

I and the Father are one.    John 10:30

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your minds in Christ Jesus.            Apostle Paul – Philippians 4:6-7

Where can I go from your Spirit?  Where can I flee from your presence?  If I go up to the heavens, your are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.  If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.                  Psalm 139:7-10

Son, thou art ever with me and all that I have is thine.    Luke 15:31

My kingdom is not of this world.  John 18:36

“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. After a little while the world will behold Me no more; but you will behold Me; because I live, you shall live also. In that day you shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me; and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him” (John 14:18-21). [italics are mine]

One with God becomes a majority.

O Master. Thou art the real goal of human life.  We are yet but slaves of wishes, putting bar to our advancement  Thou art the only God and power to bring us up to that stage.

Helping the Needy

Baba Batra 9a
Rabbi Assi said, “Tzedakah is equally important as all the other mitzvoth put together.”

Isaiah 32:17
And the work of tzedakah shall bring peace.

Proverbs 14:31
He that oppresses the poor blasphemes his maker, but he that is gracious to the poor honors God.

Psalm 72:2, 4
May the ruler of the land judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice… May the ruler champion the cause of the poor among the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush those who wrong them.

Psalm 82:3-4
Defend the poor and the orphan; deal justly with the poor and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

Look, you are being called upon to expend in Allah’s Way, yet some of you are being niggardly, whereas the one who is niggardly is, in fact, being niggardly only to himself. Allah is Self-Sufficient: it is you who are the needy. If you turn away, Allah will replace you by another people, and they will not be like you. (47:38)

Being Humble

Numbers 12:3
Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.

Psalm 18:27
You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.

Matthew 23:12
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (S) said: “Indeed, humility increases the dignity of one endowed with it. Be humble, and Allah will exalt you.”
