We were on a short holiday together at a resort, when my sister-in-law suggested we get massages. This wasn’t my first, or even second choice as an afternoon activity, but since my original plan became impossible, I made our appointments. It became obvious later that God was orchestrating our pastime.
While I was receiving the massage, it soon became apparent that my therapist, Miles, was a Christian. Our conversation included our favorite parts of the Bible – his were the Psalms and the red-letter texts. After a few minutes, I felt urged by the Holy Spirit to relate the most dramatic of God’s interventions in my life. You can read about this at God’s Faithfulness Changed My Life. Having shared this, I asked Miles to tell me his story.
Miles is well liked by his co-workers and was frequently promoted during his several years at the resort. As the Covid19 virus reduced the resort’s occupancy, each department was charged with informing their employees that layoffs could be coming. Miles distinctly remembers a hallway assembly when the unwelcome news was conveyed. However, while everyone else was frightened by the prospect of unemployment, Miles found himself in what he described as a “bubble.” The Comforter had surrounded him with peace and happiness about the unknown that was to come. And Miles believed and trusted.
Layoffs did come. Despite some self-doubt, Miles had been thinking about training to be a massage therapist and now he had the time to start. Many months later, as the number of Covid19 cases declined and resort activity increased, a part-time position for a Spa receptionist opened. As a step closer to his dream job and with some training completed, Miles applied.
If you had met Miles, you would not be surprised that he was hired. In fact, as the start date of his new job approached, the part-time position turned into a full-time position!
Miles has completed his training and is now working as a massage therapist at the resort where we met. We both marveled at how God paired us together for that session. Was it to reinforce our faith in a God who acts on our behalf? Did He, the Great Director, want you to read this story? I don’t know, but there it is.
Thank you, Miles, for sharing your experience.
